GENERAL FUTURES TOPICS: What are
future trends in such areas as population,
energy, digital technology, and entertainment?
Welcome to the Oakmont Futures Club. Our objective is to provide a forum where we can stay current with important trends that will impact our lives and communicate those trends to other Oakmont residents.
The future has always had surprises for those who attempt to anticipate it, but we must anticipate the nature of the future or risk being overwhelmed by the accelerating rate of change we have experienced in the more recent past.
In one sense the future is here: we are under lock-down in Oakmont because of the Corona Virus Pandemic. Our regular meetings at the East Recreation Center cannot be held, but there is still a need for information relevant to our current situation. To meet this need we are now streaming presentations at 4PM on Zoom every month. See the Oakmont News and the Oakmont E-Blast for details. Upcoming meeting topics include: JANUARY 13, 2021, 4:00 PM, DRONES; by George McKinney; JANUARY 27, 2021 @ 4:00 PM, CYBERSECURITY, by Mark Randol; Poatponed until February: Quantum Computing - what it is and it's
Recordings of the videos and and hand-outs can be found on the Meetings page of this website. It is unknown when regular meetings of the club can be resumed
This site is under construction. The Meeting Notes page will include copies of recent presentations and handouts.
